✔︎ You will be on a JR express train from Shintoku Station, the nearest station to Sahoro Resort, to Kushiro. Enjoy fresh seafood cooked by the famous "Robata-yaki (fireside grilling)" technique in Hokkaido's largest port town.

✔︎ From Kushiro Station, you will board the special limited-time-only "SL Winter Marshland" train. Enjoy the Ramsar Convention-listed Kushiro Marshland views from the train!

    From late January to early March, Board the "SL Fuyu-no-Shitsugen" Sightseeing Train! The "SL Fuyu-no-Shitsugen," Hokkaido's only steam locomotive, is a beloved winter attraction. Step aboard its beautifully restored carriages, complete with varnished wooden walls and classic wooden-framed seats, offering an authentic retro experience as you take in the breathtaking winter landscapes of the Kushiro Wetlands.

    Located along the JR Senmo Main Line connecting Kushiro and Abashiri, this station marks the Terminal Station for the SL Fuyu no Shitsugen Train. Inside, you’ll find a waiting room, and a nearby convenience store offers food and drinks.

    Lake Mashu First Observatory (30minutes)

    Lake Mashu, a Caldera Lake with a maximum depth of 211.4 meters and World-Class Clarity, occasionally freezes over in winter, offering a rare and breathtaking sight. At the adjacent Mashu Lake Kamui Terrace, you can enjoy the stunning views of the lake from the comfort of indoors in the coldest months. The terrace also offers light meals, soft- ice cream, and coffee.

    Mt. Iou (20minutes)

    Located about 3 km south of Kawayu Hot Spring, "Mt. Io" is an active volcano known as "Atosa-Nupuri" (Bare Mountain) in the Ainu language. Even today, sulfurous smoke rises with a roaring sound, creating a dramatic and impressive sight. At the nearby Mt. Io MOKMOK Base, visitors can enjoy the famous Onsen Eggs, made using the hot spring from Kawayu Hot Spring.
